Industry Nine are the crowd leading company when it comes to hubs. They first released the Torch model which shocked everyone with its ridiculous amount of engagement points. But now, Industry Nine have Taken it to the next level. The Hydra Industry Nine's new Classic hubs are the heart of your wheelset, everything revolves around them, literally. They now introduce a staggering 690 points of engagement. That's a whopping 0.52 engagement! This is done through their new 6 pawl design. Each pawl individual engages on the hub and unlike the Torch's 65-point drivering the Hydra now offers 115. For those who worry about the weakness of the hub with only one pawl in contact. Industry Nine have solved that issue by allowing the pawls to flex so that as you start pedalling you get instant engagement and up to 4 pawls in contact with the drivering making it stronger than the Torch. Another significant and welcomed improvement to the Hydra Hubs is the bearings. The new bigger bearings offer more durability and longer last life as well as less friction allows you to roller faster and for longer.

Every Classic mountain hub is made start to finish in our Asheville, NC machine shop. From turning and milling bar stock 7075-T6 aluminium for shells, axles and encaps, wire EDM cutting A2 tool steel for pawls and driverings, to our own in-house anodization lab, every step of design, engineering, manufacturing and assembly is done on premises to our exacting standards.
