Most modern pumps use a rubber ball or disc and a spring, with some nicer ones using an injection molded rubber piece and spring, but nothing has the durability, contamination resistance, or solid sealing action of this brass plunger design which has been in continuous production for nearly 70 years. You'll only need to replace the Inner Check Valve Assembly on your Silca Pista Floor Pump once every 20-25 years so make sure you give it the good stuff.
