How to choose tyre levers and repair kits
Tyre levers and a patch kit are the essentials for fixing a flat on the road or trail. Here's what to carry.
Tyre levers
Use two or three to lift the tyre bead off the rim. Plastic levers won't scratch rims.
Steel-core levers
Stronger levers help with tight tubeless and road tyres without snapping.
Glue patch kits
Vulcanising patches with glue give the strongest, longest-lasting repair for butyl tubes.
Glueless patches
Self-adhesive patches are fast and mess-free for roadside fixes. Replace later if needed.
TPU tube repair
TPU tubes need their own patch kits, as standard patches won't stick properly.
Tyre boots
A boot patch covers a cut in the tyre so the tube doesn't push through.
Running tubulars? Find tubular cement. Tubeless riders should carry a tubeless repair kit and a spare tube.
