The Maxxis Aspen ST is a race-specific XC tyre designed for ultra-fast, smooth conditions.
It features an extremely low-profile tread pattern that prioritises minimal rolling resistance above all else. This tyre is for the rider who demands every watt of efficiency on hard-packed XC courses or gravel races.
This tyre is uncompromising in its pursuit of speed, as a result it is only recommended for dry conditions on hard surfaces where the slick design can maintain grip and cut watts from your rolling resistance.
While this tyre is marketed for mountain bikes, it’s becoming a popular option for modern gravel bikes that have capacity for wider tyres. We think this is a great option for gravel riding in Australia where a bigger volume tyre can help with rough corrugations, but you don’t need the same level of grip that a more knobby tyre provides.
Characteristics: Exceptionally fast rolling, minimal tread for maximum efficiency, and predictable on smooth surfaces.
Suitable Terrain: Hard-packed XC race courses, groomed flow trails, and dry, fast conditions where speed is paramount. Ideal for race days on dry and hardpacked trails.
Riding Style: Elite XC racers, speed demons, and those who prioritise outright velocity on non-technical terrain.
Pushys Recommended Combo’s for Maxxis Aspen ST:
- Aspen ST Front / Aspen ST Rear: The ultimate combination for pure XC race speed on the smoothest courses.
- Aspen Front / Aspen ST Rear: A slightly more versatile XC race option, offering a bit more front-end confidence while maintaining rear speed.
