The Maxxis Forekaster is designed for aggressive XC and light trail riding, particularly excelling in mixed and wet conditions.

Its widely spaced tread pattern sheds mud efficiently, while the taller knobs bite into loose terrain, offering confident grip when other fast-rolling tyres struggle.

The Forekaster was updated by Maxxis in 2022, and since then has become one of our preferred options for the front tyre on 120-140mm trail bikes. Especially as a tyre to ride in winter conditions in SE Australia when the trails can be a little more damp and loose.

Characteristics: Excellent grip in loose and wet conditions, good mud shedding, reasonable rolling resistance, and predictable handling.

Suitable Terrain: Loose and loamy XC trails. Great for mixed conditions where grip is more important than outright speed.

Riding Style: XC riders who encounter varied or damp conditions, and trail riders seeking a fast-rolling tyre with reliable grip.

Pushys Recommended Combo’s for Maxxis Forekaster:

  • Forekaster Front / Forekaster Rear: A versatile XC/trail setup for mixed conditions, this is a popular default choice for 120-130mm trail bikes.
  • Forekaster Front / Rekon Rear: A popular choice for a more aggressive XC setup, offering strong front-end grip with a fast-rolling rear.
  • Dissector Front / Forekaster Rear: A more aggressive tyre set up for trail riders, especially riders looking for a little more grip in damp conditions and happy to sacrifice a little rolling speed for some improve grip.
