Did you know that the ability of your body to protect itself can be impaired after prolonged exercise? By exercising to keep yourself healthy you may, in fact, be reducing the efficiency of your immune system to fight off opportunistic illnesses. Wow!!
Heavy training is known to impact the immune system, suppressing it for 3-72 hours post-training. This can lead to a higher incidence of Upper Respiratory Tract Infections affecting the ear, sinuses and throat, and resulting in an adverse impact on the athlete's health and subsequently their ability to train. It's also known that excessive vitamin intake can suppress the training response which is why SiS Immune is designed to be at a level which supports athlete health without compromising training benefits.
One daily SiS Immune tablet dissolved in water becomes a low‐calorie rehydration drink designed to be a highly practical approach to supporting your immune system during and after exercise so you'll always be in tip-top shape for those all-important race-events.
About Your Immune System
The immune system is a system of bodily structures and functions that help protect you and fight against disease. Various immune cell functions are temporarily impaired, especially in the 3-72 hours immediately following prolonged, continuous heavy exercise. Endurance athletes engaged in intensive periods of training (e.g. leading up to a marathon) appear to be more susceptible to minor infections. This is a concern for athletes and exercisers at all levels, as even minor infections can result in a drop in exercise performance and the ability to sustain heavy training. Sore throats and cold-like symptoms are actually more common in athletes than in the general population and once infected, colds may last longer too.
What Can You Do?
For endurance athletes, the key to avoiding an impaired immune system is allowing your body time to recover after high intensity, prolonged exercise. Paying attention to your post-exercise nutrition can help maintain the normal function of the immune system. SiS Immune provides essential nutrients to help support the immune system, including: 200mg of Vitamin C which has been shown to help maintain the normal function of the immune system during and after intense physical exercise because of its ability to contribute to your normal, energy-yielding, metabolism; and 2.5mg of Iron which contributes to the normal function of the immune system and helps the process of cell division which, in turn, contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
