The 27mm inner rim width strikes a happy medium on the width spectrum and allows it to provide optimal air volume and casing profile on tires in the 2.3-2.5" range. The open-cavity rim profile eliminates weight where it isn't needed while also allowing for a smoother ride. The responsive 6-pawl freehub provides 5 degrees of engagement and allows you to ratchet through techy climbs while also providing instant power as you pedal out of corners. - Frequency Hub: Frequency hubs feature a low-drag, 6-pawl design that alternates contact between two sets of 3-pawl groupings to provide a responsive 5 degrees of freehub engagement.
- Solid Strip & TCS Tape: Durable nylon strip that lies between the rim and tubeless tape to prevent tubeless tape from pushing into the spoke holes and ensures a smooth interface between the tire and rim. The smooth surface makes it easier to mount a tire by preventing air from escaping around the bead at each indent during inflation. Solid Strip also protects the airtight system from puncture in the case of a broken spoke.
- 3-Cross Lacing and Alloy Nipples: Trail wheels need to strike the perfect balance of lightweight performance and daily dependability. Proterra Light i27 wheels provide the longterm reliability of a 3-cross lacing pattern with the weight savings of alloy nipples.
- 27mm Inner Rim Width: Daily trail riders riding 2.3-2.5" tires often choose rims with an inner rim width of 27mm due to the balance of high-volume sidewall support and lightweight performance. This is the excellent rim width for trail riders who value the climb or XC riders who prefer the descent.
