Features

• Frequency Hub: Frequency hubs feature a low-drag, 6-pawl design that alternates contact between two sets of 3-pawl groupings to provide a responsive 5 degrees of freehub engagement.
• Solid Strip & TCS Tape: Durable nylon strip that lies between the rim and tubeless tape to prevent tubeless tape from pushing into the spoke holes and ensures a smooth interface between the tire and rim. The smooth surface makes it easier to mount a tire by preventing air from escaping around the bead at each indent during inflation. Solid Strip also protects the airtight system from puncture in the case of a broken spoke.
• 3-Cross Lacing and Nipples: Too many companies are trying to save weight by offering "enduro" wheels with 2-cross lacing patterns and inadequate alloy nipples. While those are suitable for XC and light trail usage, there's no replacement for the longterm reliability of a 3-cross lacing pattern with standard nipples holding it all together.
• 30mm Inner Rim Width: Enduro and aggressive trail riders across the globe have adopted 30mm as the go-to size for tires in the most common widths of 2.4-2.5". Most trail and enduro tires are now designed to be installed on a 30mm rim and doing so will optimize the air volume, sidewall support and tire profile of those tires. As XC becomes more aggressive and companies offer wider XC tires, these lightweight 30mm rims are also an excellent choice for XC riders who prioritize confidence over shaving grams.
• Hand-Build in California: Proterra wheels are hand-built in our California wheel building facility at the base of Mount Tamalpais, where mountain biking began. Our team of wheel wizards lace, tension and tape every Proterra with the same attention to detail they provide their own wheels.
